About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of a massive, ancient hollow, torn into the massive structure. The narrator explains that he has been on a quest to find this place, which was left untouched by the builders. He says that if this place truly existed, it would mean that the city itself was not a repeating structure, but that it has an end. He adds that it had been a long journey his billion second, long juvenescence period back home feeling like mere the blink of eye in comparison to his son. At the time, all the juveniles of the triad were devo tee to the teachings in baro -- chapel. The disaster struck when the silicon ancestors raided the human settlement, and the humans sent large builders after them. The brain of the fortress was improperly altered. The dots on the fortress map indicated that the other silicon creatures were following after them, but soon the dots disappeared as well. Eventually, only eight of the silicon creatures made it through the humans' blockade, and they encountered humans many times during their long escape
