About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the vampire's "healing system" is so powerful that it can heal wounds as quickly as a person can heal from a gunshot wound. This means that, if the wounds heal, the vampire will be able to "cure" Jane of her loneliness. Jane, however, is not convinced. She tells the vampire that she will not allow him to become a vampire and that he will have to stay with her "forever" if he wants to be cured. The vampire, in a soliloquy, tells Jane that she is the only person in his "imagination" that he would ever want to be with.
