In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the concept of the "dragon talisman," which is a magical combination of flesh, spirit, and soul that can be used to transform a person into a dragon. The reader learns that the golden scale is a person who possesses no particular talent, but can become a dragon when an unstable situation requires it. The key to transforming a body is the same key that the reader needs to lift the blood curse. The golden scale can also be used for the purpose of opening the Book of Life and Death.
