The boy doesn't believe him at first, but then he realizes that luck is related to power, so he can't lose to a kid who's not open. He tells the kid that they can have another go at it, but first he wants to know what the master wants. The master wants to protect the boy from the wolves, and the boy can be his adviser. The bottom level is dangerous, says the wolf, but what are all the people there? The wolf says that they haven't killed anyone in two years, so it looks like the man is dead. The wolf asks the boy if he suspects him, but the boy says that he just fought the wolf for the shovel, and he suspects that the wolf is a human.
