About This Chapter
The second prince tells the duke that if he wants to be the next emperor, he needs to get rid of the first person who's already in prison. The duke says that the empress doesn't have any plans to kill Lin and the fifth prince, because they've already been convicted of collaborating with the enemy. Lin's mother won't let her kill them, but the chancellor and the duke will always be allies with her. Lin is worried about his father, who hasn't been heard from since he's been imprisoned. The doctor arrives, and Lin is horrified to find that Lin has been poisoned. He's worried that he'll be blamed for the crime, but he'd rather die than go to jail. He begs the doctor to come quickly, and the doctor agrees. Lin wants to go back to the prison immediately, and he begs the third prince to stop the carriage that's carrying Lin away.
