About This Chapter
When the Governess arrives at the house, she finds little Nemo asleep on a tablecloth. The Governess tells Nemo that she has brought him a tablecloth, which she says is a "magic trick" . Nemo is confused by the tablecloth, and wonders if it is also a "transformation magic" , but she assures him that it is merely a "swish tablecloth cover" and that the land-creatures are highly intelligent and have transmissible memory. She explains that the change in Nemo's personality is due to the fact that he has evolved from a simple being to a more complex being.
