In this chapter, we learn that the Duke of Guise has been very careful in his duties. He has always been kind to the Duke, even when the Duke criticized him. He tells Guise that he owes him a lot, and he shows Guise the archery target that he used to practice when he was a child. Guise tells him that he is so talented that he could not have fallen for him even if the Duke had not been so kind to him. The Duke says that he has heard that Guise and the Prince of Wales have been quarrelling, and that they have shut up. He asks Guise why he was so upset, and Guise says that the Prince must have been sad to hear what he had to say. He says he will never be angry again, and they will start over with each other.
