In this chapter, we are introduced to a young man named Jay Kim, who has just quit his job as a baseball player. He tells us that he is worried about his relationship with Henry, whom he has not seen for a long time. He is also worried about the fact that he has been neglecting his duties as a father to his son, and that Henry is neglecting his responsibilities as a friend. Jay Kim asks Henry why he is neglecting him, and Henry responds that he does not want to be a burden to Jay Kim. He also tells Jay Kim that he would like to be friends with him for a week, but that he will not be able to do so because of his busy schedule. He then asks if he can stay over for the night, but Jay Kim refuses, saying he will go home.
