In this chapter, the young narrator reflects on his relationship with Ki-hyun and wonders if he might be able to "really do this" . He tells us that he's been talking to Ki every evening and that he seems to be growing more and more mature as the conversation goes on. He says that he feels as though they're "creating a bridge across this distance" , and he asks Ki what's bothering him. Ki replies that his partner is a "slave driver" and that's why things are going well at work. Ki says that his love life is going well, but that he can't stay quiet for long. Ki tells him that he always wanted to do something big when he was a kid. He's happy to see that his childhood dream has come true. Ki also tells Ki that they haven't spoken to each other in a year and that they've been separated for a long time. Ki is worried that something has happened to Ki, but Ki says he doesn't know. Ki has a new job and is on a trip, and Ki just misses him.
