About This Chapter
The scene opens with Park Sung-hee's entrance. He's in the middle of a soliloquy when he suddenly realizes that he's being played. He apologizes and says he'll do whatever he can to make things right. He wants to kiss Park, but he can't bring himself to do it. He says he was acting so well that he would have left already, but now he feels like he has been badly hurt. He doesn't want anyone to know that he is being played, so he hides in the bushes by the side of the road. The scene ends with a description of the criminal code of Korea, which states that anyone who "indecently" or "obscures" any public place is punishable by one year in prison. The narrator says that the scene is about a guy who's about to be replaced by someone else in a movie. He also says that a guy in the next-door neighbor's house is getting plastic surgery because he wants attention from a girl in the house. The two of them head back to the apartment. Park says he wants to know why the guy is acting the way he is. He thinks it's because he is short and not popular. He wonders why he is acting this way. He knows that he was insecure in the past, and now he wants someone to help him out. He goes on to say that he didn't know that the guy would be acting like this. He was just going to go to the press conference and pay attention to the guy at the same time. When he heard about the guy's acting, he wanted to pay attention too, but then he realized that he wasn't acting like he was supposed to. He wanted to do something about it.
