About This Chapter
The next morning, Bei chen explains that the San tu river is connected to hell, but the southern side of the river is normal. The red spider lily, which is a symbol of friendship, attracts people from all over the world, and Bei-chen decides to take a boat trip to the river to see it. He thinks that the trip is not just a birthday party, but also a chance for him to meet his consort, the emperor's minister. The minister, he says, is a member of the cabinet, which has been suppressed by the emperor for many years. The cabinet has recently been very active, killing both the tax collector and the emperor himself. The emperor is still under the influence of the invisible darkness, the minister says, and he can rest assured that wherever the emperor goes, there is no darkness.
