About This Chapter
Ayamechan tells us that he and his friends have thrown a lot of money at the machine, but they're still missing money. He's got 90,800 JPY , and he's worried that the machines are going to cheat him out of some of the money. The only thing he can think of to do is to enter a stamp's name in the remaining time to get the stamp from the person who gave it to him. This way, he says, he'll get a five-star stamp for the price he paid for it, but he won't be able to sell it for a lot more than that. The machines are guessing the rarity of the stamps, which is a fancy way of saying that the price of a stamp is going to go up based on the number of times you've used it. This means that if you're lucky enough to have a million JPY, you'll probably get one of the rarest stamps in the world for a price that's a lot higher than the price you paid for the one you just used. This is a little weird, but it's the way the machines work. They're guessing the price based on how many times they've turned the dial on the machine. So, if you had a million yen , you could probably guess the price on the rarest stamp, but if you only had a few million, you wouldn't know how much it was worth. So the machines aren't really doing anything to keep
