About This Chapter
In this final scene of the novel, Sonezaki is still in love with Mina, but he's not attracted to her. He's only attracted to Mina because she's his "good body" for now. He says that he feels relieved that Mina is safe, but that he doesn't want Mina to go away. He feels like he has to fight for her now, because he can't let Mina distract him from his goal. He thinks that the only time he felt a release from Mina was on their club trip, when they had to fight over a pillow. He wonders if this is the same game that everyone else is playing. Everyone has to find the words to describe their colors, and it's everyone's turn to choose the color of their hearts.
