He compares it to the "middle east" as he imagines it, but he realizes that every nation has its own way of doing things. For example, if you're playing in the middle of nowhere, you might be lucky enough to win a game on the road, but you might not be as lucky in the real world. Still, he says, he doesn't hold any candle to any other country's way of life, even if it's better than his own. He's on his way back from a trip to Hawaii, and he's excited to be back in his home country, but also nervous about traveling to a foreign country. He checks out the facilities of the oil-rich country of Qatar, which he describes as "not at all like I pictured" . He also checks the results of the first game of the Japan cup final, which was won by his own team, kashima, against the Egyptian team, etu. He thinks that his team still has a chance to win the game at home.
