About This Chapter
The next day, Shuuji's father tells his son that he's going to the national tournament in a month's time. The elder Shuuji tells him that his family has a grave at his temple and that he should try his best to visit it every day. Shuuji asks his son why he didn't tell him earlier about the family's grave. The father says that he was expecting to see his son, but that he found out about the grave when he was with the other family members. He says that they're like brothers and sisters, and that they don't need to worry about anything. He's happy to see them, though, because he feels like they are from a different part of the world than him. He tells Shuuji that he doesn't like to eat with them, because they are "from a different world" . He also tells them that they are two of the nicest people he has ever met. He thanks them for their hospitality, and they all agree that they would like to see him again. They also agree that Shuuji is the best player in the country. They agree that the tournament is going to be the best tournament in the world. They're also going to win the tournament, and then they'll take the title back to Japan, where Shuuji grew up. They both agree that it's a shame that they lost, because Shuuji was always a "fragile" kid, and Shuuji has always been a "prone to gloomy spells." Shuuji also says that his friend, kazama, is a prodigy, and even said that he has never seen anyone play as hard as Shuuji does. He thinks that his "weak constitut" is because he is just playing tough.
