About This Chapter
The next day at school, the two girls talk about the events of the previous day. The younger girl wonders if the older one spent his night thinking about her. She asks the older girl if they can talk later during lunch break. The older girl tells her that boys are stronger than girls because they were born to shield them from harm. She tells the younger girl that she was the smallest girl in her class and that she used to help her carry her bags. The two girls reminisce about the first time they spoke, when they were marching on the same side of town. The girl says that she can carry the heavy bags that the older man carried, but that she had to yell at him and leave.
