In this short scene, we learn that Bing is in mourning for his father, who has died. Bing tells his father that he has always wanted to give him a gift, but he doesn't have the money to do so. He also tells Bing that his father has agreed to let him live another three years after his father's death. Bing says that he's sorry that he didn't plan on marrying Bing sooner, because he wanted him so badly that he wouldn't tease him about it. He tells Bing about a rumor that Lin Yaofang is trying to get married to a businessman in order to avenge herself on her father. Bing explains that he fell in the water before and is afraid he might have drowned. He decides to go to the lake island where they first met and start a fire.
