In this short scene, the Governess tells her servant, Lockwood, that she is cooking him a nice meal and that he should be grateful for it. Lockwood tells her that he has not invited her to his home before and that she has not asked him to cook for her. Lockwood then tells her about his military training and about the night before when he used a mill to make flour. He tells Lockwood that he will die if he does not stop hating him. The Governess then tells Lockwood to get in line to go through her crash, and Lockwood tells him to do so. Lockwood says that Lockwood is as low a dog as a puppy if he did, and he accuses Lockwood of dirting up all his dishes. He says that he did not ask Lockwood to cook and that Lockwood gave him a "walloping" . He then asks Lockwood if he thinks they will make up and Lockwood replies that they will
