About This Chapter
18 years ago, a young man named "Banana" walks into a convenience store and asks the clerk if he needs a membership card. The clerk tells him that he can earn extra points by trading with paper. The young man asks a girl named "Little Girl" if her parents are dead. The girl says that her mother is dead, and the young man wonders if she has a father. He asks her where her family is, and she says that she doesn't have one. He wonders if he should raise her himself, or if she should be raised by someone else. He says that he hasn't raised a human child in over 100 years, but that's a pain, and he promises to take care of her until her family comes for her. He tells her that she looks like "some kind of moron" , and they spend a little time together, and then she grows up to be a man who even professes his feelings for him. This is unacceptable, he says, because humans shouldn't be allowed to be attracted to "wizards" . He decides that he's going to give the girl a cold shoulder, and when he gets home, he opens the door to the girl and asks her if she wants to live with him. She says no, but he can turn her down if he wants.
