The scene opens with the narrator introducing the newcomer. He introduces himself as the "newcomer" and asks the newcomer to bring lunch for the two of them. The narrator tells the newcomer that he is a "single" man and that he could fall in love easily with a "handsome boy" . The newcomer, however, tells the narrator that he has gone abroad to find out if he fell in love with the boy. When the narrator realizes that he did, he confesses his love for the boy and insists that his mother allow him to marry the boy in five years. The two men quarrel over the issue several times, but the narrator insists that he cannot forget the boy for five years and sends the newcomer abroad to make up for it.
