The mountain spirit tells the monk to hurry home and not to worry about what's going on in the forest. He'll tell him how bad humans are, and he'll let him know how bad things are in the world. The monk agrees to go home, and the mountain spirit promises to tell him everything he needs to know about the human race. The demon says that if he wants to exact revenge on someone, he's got to know where that person's house is. He says that humans are liars, and that after they've done using him, they're all going to leave. He tells him that he is the demon's nemesis, and now he has to prepare one part of the story for him every day. He asks the monk why he feels like the demon doesn't look like him, and says that he bullied other people when he was a kid, so it's hard for him to refute what the monk says. They're going to head out into the forest, the demon says, and they'll be able to get away with it.
