About This Chapter
In this short scene, baek sings a song about a young man named June who is the fiance of a prince named Caius Martius. The prince's mother supports her son as the next ruler of the kingdom until his son is old enough. The song ends with baek singing another song about the importance of the back in a chess game. This time, however, the song is about the back. It's about a piece of the chess piece that's being played, and it's called the "rook." The "rook" is a piece in a game of chess, and the "back" is an important piece in any chess game, so it makes sense that the back would be important too. The two of them play the game again, and this time, they're going to win. They're in love, and they've decided to wait until they know each other's feelings for each other before they get into a serious relationship. They ask each other if they should be their swordsmanship teacher, and June says she's not sure if he's out of his mind. He says that everything he said came from his loyalty to the prince. He wants to live out his life in his rightful place, but he needs to build up his strength first. He's wearing the right clothes, he says, because he feels bad for the nobleman who prepared them for him every day. He doesn't know how long they'll be together, though, and he hopes they get along. He hopes they do, and hopes they stay together. The instructor, Edgar Glen, says he'll treat them the same as anyone else.
