About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator explains that he cannot go home because of his parents' disapproval. He tells the reader that he has already explained his situation to his parents and that they will forgive him. He then tells the audience that he is going to stay single because he does not need a man to cheat on him. In fact, he says, he will remain single because she is a queen who has higher standards than the rest of the world. The narrator then goes on to say that he drank too much today and that he will take a taxi back to his home because it is very late. He eats some fish cakes and apologizes for not following him out of the restaurant. He explains that when women show interest in him, they often ask him for favors or for ulterior motives. He says that he may have overreactled when he was just showing interest in her. He apologizes that he was too busy to apologize and that this is a sign of his apologies.
