About This Chapter
When the maid asks what happened, the maid replies that she did not like arranged marriages and that she would have laughed out loud if her brother had heard of it. The maid then asks the maid if she came to ask for more rice, and the maid says that she came because she was specially transferred to the police station by the gaon. She then asks why the word "concubine" bothers her, and she says that even if she were to become a wife, that would be a huge change in status. She says that before her family was destroyed, she didn't set foot in the kitchen. However, when the soldiers came in, she followed her brother and grandmother out of the house. It was the last time she was happy, she says, because it was the only food she could make. She asks why she hasn't slept yet, and when the maid sighs, she replies that it feels like she is pathetic. She goes on to say that the maid brought her to flirt around with, and that it is not the maid's fault that she flirts with the wrong person.
