It's been a while since we've heard anything from the main characters, and now that they're back in the city, we get a brief glimpse of what's going down between the two brothers. It turns out that one of the brothers is pretending to be the other's brother, and the two of them are plotting to find out who the other is. We learn that the brothers are twins, and that they were born the same day, but that the one who was born first was always the one to beat. This is a problem, and it's one that the narrator feels is unfair to the twins, since they were both born at the same time. The narrator then goes on to explain that she was always considered the second in the family, so she wanted the brothers to look at her fairly, so that she wouldn't be seen as the inferior one. After listening to the story, the narrator decides that she doesn't need to know anything more about it, and leaves the city.
