It's the closing time at the library, and everyone is supposed to leave. Suddenly, the narrator finds himself in a corner of the library. He's looking for a book to read, but he can't find it anywhere. He asks the librarian if there's a book about Empress Myeong-Seong, and she tells him that there is one. The librarian also tells the narrator that there are some letters and keepsakes in the library that were kept private by the empress. The narrator asks if he can find a clue to the image on the sachet, and the librarian tells him to fumble for it. He finds an image embroidered on a sachet, but the image isn't on the one in the book. The light goes out, and he realizes that it's not the image he found on his sachet. He tells the librarian to ask for the woman's help, and when she refuses, he kicks her out of the room. He doesn't know what to say, so he just gnaws at the thing that belongs to him. He says he'll go find the woman and help her. He thinks that the woman is the kind of woman that calls strange men, and that she'll be able to handle the situation if she just ignores it.
