The narrator is not sure if the map is the one left to him by his father, or if he has the right to the map. The young narrator wants to be sure that he is getting the right amount of money from the empress. He also wants to make sure that his grandmother is not involved in the secret fund. He asks if the man who murdered the shop owner was the same man who killed his grandmother. He is certain that the man is not the same person who killed her grandmother. In the meantime, he decides to call on his uncle to tell him about the secret.
