"Three Fates Make Me Stay My Blood Pressure Must Not Enough Sleep" is the title of this chapter's soliloquy. It's a reference to the three fates that make him stay alive: 1) blood, 2) illness, and 3) insanity. The narrator says that he's finally "gone mad" . He's been living in the basement of his own house for a while now, and he feels that it's the best place for him to be. He thinks that mik will come looking for him somewhere else, and that one of his kinsmen will look for him there. But, he says, they steal food from his house and eat with them, and then they go home drunk and out, wondering why he hasn't made dinner. He tells them to "fuck your eyes" and look at him.
