In this chapter, we learn that the two young scientists, dayoung and ruddy, are in the middle of a huge experiment. They're trying to figure out how to handle a new kind of paradox that's been discovered in nature: the "quantum paradox." In other words, there's a new way to think about the world. The two scientists are psyched to be in this experiment, and they're excited to be working on it with the rest of the team. They don't want to go anywhere, though, because they've got no idea what's coming next. One of the guys, a police detective named Quintus, tells dayoung that the cops have turned cop killers, and that he's not going to be one of them. He wants to be a detective, too, because he wants to "blow his brains out" when the cops come after him. Quintus and the cop are both psyched that they'll soon be able to "know what about me" .
