About This Chapter
In this short scene, the Governess tells the audience that she wants to play the part of a witch. She sings of a land full of stories, legends, and wonders. She tells us that the first stories were born from encounters of darkness, wind, and fire. She compares this land to the land of the crows and the brothers of taranis, who waited at sunset for their brothers to return. The Governess then tells us about how she heard dragons crying in the dark. She says that her daughter is down there, waiting for her rescue. She begs her to stay and watch as she destroys what she's fought for. She also tells her that everyone loves her, but that this crown will not stop her from saving her daughter. She adds that she is no longer a tap huntsman, and that she doesn't look like this, but after a long time, she has become accustomed to this form. She wonders if she will be killed by the dwarves, but she says that she has done some research on her own. She concludes that she survived what should have been a "fatal accident" . She asks if she can force her power out of her.
