About This Chapter
The next morning, the General is still angry with Bai Qingyan for not paying back the money he owed him. He tells the young man that if he goes to the family, he'll find it harder to survive than he imagines. He also tells Bai that the girl in the carriage is sick and will die in the cold the next night. The General tells Bai to go to him with the ring and he promises to help him. Bai is shocked that the General would want to take such a solemn vow of love from her. He asks the General what he wants to do with his prisoner, and the General tells him that he's thinking too much. Bai tells the General that he was just worried when he saw that the prisoner was bleeding from the wound he received when he was captured. He then asks if there's anything in the General's room that he doesn't want him to see.
