This chapter opens with a discussion between the two dogs. The owner of the night-hunting dog has challenged the owner's other dog to a fight. The dog refuses to participate in the fight, but the owner is determined to take the fight anyway. The two dogs begin to argue, with the owner accusing the dog of being a coward and the dog accusing the owner of being an arrogant loser. When the owner finally relents, the dog tells the owner that he will have his revenge one day.
