The chapter opens with a description of the three realms: the "mortal realm," the "etheric realm," and the "heavenly realm." The three realms are divided into two parts: "the mortal realm" and "the etheric realm." In the mortal realm, demons are killed by those who are called "day hunters," and "night hunters," or "demons," are killed at night. The demon that kills the day hunter is called a "devil," while the night-hunting demon is called "devil-killer." The demon who kills the "devil" is called the "mysterious demon." The day-hunter is responsible for killing the devil, while the "night-hunting" demon is the one who is killed at nighttime. Night-hunting and the demon-killer are responsible for keeping the balance between the three worlds. The narrator tells us that the members of the demon hunting party are called day hunters and night-hunters, and that "whatever happens," "do not come out boldly." He says that he is trapped by a demon named "mu ruxhe" , who is not allowed to mingle with the other two realms. He explains that he fought with "yang jian" at the "edge of the mortal" realm in the year 2000 , but he cannot remember who he was fighting with. He says he has no memory of the battle, but that "it is poverty" that limits his imagination. He asks xiaoxi if she can tell him what is going on. She tells him that she has been attacked by "a demon" . She goes mental, attacks them, and then wakes up. He begs her to save her. He tells her that he misses her so much that he has to try to hang out in the sun until sunset
