The narrator is late for work at the factory, and he's bummed out. He's worried that his dad is lying to him about the factory being a "modellorn factory" . He also worries about his mom, who's divorced from his dad. The narrator tells us that he came to the factory when he was six, and that he hasn't been outside since. He wonders if he'll ever see his mom again, and wonders if ami will be there when he dies. Finally, the narrator realizes that he has some money in his pocket, so he gives it to the girl who works in the factory's east wing.
