About This Chapter
The chapter opens on Hiroshi's return from his trip abroad. Hiroshi tells the audience that he is on his way home from a conference in which he was praised for his work. The praise came with a lot of money, but he knows that he has plenty of time to think things over. He decides to move his operations abroad for the first time in his life, and he asks Hiroshi to show him the new creature. The creature, he says, is a "pinkism whiteli" , which means that it is "some sort of anxolotl" . He asks the crowd if they think the creature can eat cabbage, and they respond that he does not. He tells them that he whipped up the creature, and that it has "unlimited room to grow". He tells the crowd that if they do not listen to him, they will run him out of town. He wants them to take the creature out of his labor, and to dispose of it.
