About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of the household of the Kishimori family, who have been living in the villa country for the past month. The family consists of a father, a mother, two daughters, an oldest daughter, a third daughter, and a maid. The eldest daughter, saki, has worked as a maid for the family for three years. The second daughter, kaori, has been married to a man who works for the government. The maid, tezuka, has also worked for the same family. The third daughter , mana, is the oldest of the three, and she is the only one who has not been kidnapped. She has been kidnapped by a military man who has a medical license and is a member of the Queen's People's Council. The first daughter, mayu, is an orphan who has been orphaned by her father's death. She is the daughter of a maid who used to work for the Kishismori family. Her mother has worked for them for many years, but she has been unable to find work since her father died three years ago. Her father has been killed in the war, and the family has been forced to flee the country. The youngest daughter saki has been wounded in the arm and is unable to walk. She tries to get out of the villa, but the guards find her and she falls down. She apologizes for her behavior, and says she will return to the storage place in Tokyo. She says she feels like the Prime Minister has rejected her, and that he has drafted an order that would have made it illegal for her to leave the villa. He has not yet held a press conference on the matter, and there is no word from the government on whether or not the order will be repealed. The other daughter yaki, who is also an orphan, is also unable to leave. The mother tells her daughter that she is too soft and lazy to learn or do anything. She used to be a hard worker, but now that her father has died, she has no energy left. She tells her mother that she will have to get plastic surgery to get rid of her unattractive face. She also tells her that she does not understand complicated things and that she gets angry when someone points out that she doesn't understand them. She adds that her sister is to blame for her anger, too, because she is not smart enough to know what is going on in the world. She explains that the way she talks is important if she wants
