About This Chapter
It's the middle of the day, and Hiroshi, the artist, is worried about meeting with the other artists. He's worried that they won't be able to meet in a conference room, because there are only two of them. Hiroshi tells him that he needs to make sure that his artists' private lives are taken care of, and that's why he's holding an "editorial conference" next week. He also tells Hiroshi that he'd like to hold a "secret confer ence," which is a fancy way of saying a secret meeting, but he doesn't know where to find a place to hold it. He tells the others that they should just call off the conference, since it's such a big deal. The other artists chime in, saying that they didn't find any sign of a secret conference, but that they're still worried about Hiroshi's upcoming conference. They're worried that he might have something to worry about, but Hiroshi reassures them that it'll all be fine. He says he'll get the last series of the Shonen Jump soon, and then he asks if they should worry about something terrible happening to him. The comic's editor, Shushukai, chimes in that they don't want to worry, since they've got a big European tour coming up soon. He wonders if they might have to cancel the next series because the artist is too wounded to do it. The editor says that the artist can often make a comic better without warning, which is why he was able to get the series canceled in the first place. He adds that the canceled series often motivates the artist to make the comic even better. The artist says that if he had to cancel a series because he was wounded, he would have to do a lot of work in advance to make it look like he was doing something wrong. He then says that he booked a big tour to Europe, which he thinks would be a good idea. He thinks that if the artist fell in a well, he wouldn't scream or scream and scream, but instead he would make a story about a ghost or miss ing or something like that. The conversation turns to the artist's past, and he says that even though he was crushed by the manga, he always believed that his wife was alive. He even thought that she was dead for a long time, until one day, a magazine published an account of how Hiroshi was
