The second volume opens with a flashback to the early days of the manga. It's the middle of a conversation between the protagonist and his father. The protagonist is complaining about the fact that he's been given a new bag every year. He's worried that his family will freak out if they see him walking down the street with his new bag. The narrator tells the protagonist that buying a bag is not an obligation, but rather a "privilege." The protagonist says that he has the privilege of erasing "dispirited detective" from his face. He also says that the protagonist's father has brought home a new suitor for his daughter, who wants to marry someday.
