The narrator tells the story of the first time she met the prince, when she was twelve years old. Everyone told her that the prince was a liar, but she was still happy to meet him. She tells the narrator that if she were to marry him, she would help him overcome his troubles and he would fall in love with her. The narrator says that she wishes she were 30 years younger. She wants to tell the prince privately that she still hoped that he would ask her that question, but the prince ran away before she could do anything.
