About This Chapter
Willet's mother is the lover of Count Evremonde, not the wife of the Count. After Willet is born, his mother leaves the capital and returns to her birthplace. She raises Willet alone by her strength and the love she can give. Willet lived in the forest with his mother. His childhood was full of happiness, and his mother forced Willet to learn to use a sword. The sword is too heavy, and the peasants are only peasants. If something happens, they have to fight on their own, and that's why Willet has to learn the art of sword-fighting. His mother tells Willet that if he follows her dream, he will have to leave the village and go to a city, but she will be the most important person in his life. She tells him that he can stay with her forever, but that he must give up on his dream and leave. He says that he doesn't think he has to prove that he's living well by doing something great, but he does have to wash himself before he eats. He thought that his mother would come back tomorrow, but it didn't happen. He asked the neighbors, and then everyone in the village, but nobody knew where she was. He started living alone since then, with questions in his head, repeating in his mind again and again. He hid away the pain and continued with his life
