About This Chapter
In this chapter, the monster tells the reader that he does not want the reader to see him like this. He says that some people called him a monster because he looked like a monster, but he did not tell him that this was not the case. He tells the story of his friend, who was by his side while he was forgetting who he was. The monster says that his friend's family and friends are gone forever because of the monster's power. He also says that if they had known that the monster loved them, they would have accepted his transformation. He adds that if she had told her daughter that things were okay, she would not have accepted the monster. He concludes that he will get used to the situation after a while. He asks the reader if he has ever felt like he was dropped alone in the world. He tries to help someone, but the person ends up in pain. He feels even more alone because he is weak. The generosity they showed him for being weak is a weakness when he grows up. He ends up average. They twist him into what they want him to be. When the monster returns, he is shocked to see that the little boy is not looking at him.
