In this chapter, we learn that Dr. Bledsoe's daughter, Deryn, has gone to the police station to report that her father has been murdered. Deryn's father is a doctor, and she asks the police if they can help her. The police say they'll do their best to help her, but she's still not satisfied. She asks the doctor if he has any vials of anthrax in his office, and the doctor says he doesn't.
