About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a conversation between Carrel and Evans. Carrel tells Evans to get out of the house or he'll burn the secret collection. Evans tells Carrel that he's been waiting for Carrel for four days to call him back. He doesn't even know that Carrel has been away from home for 96 hours. Evans says that he can't believe Carrel is bothering him. He's going to kill Carrel instead, he says. Evans replies that he is such a self-centered prick that he wouldn't care if Carrel killed him. Evans responds that he hopes Carrel's jealousy is unwanted. He says that honeymoon even his pores are phase. He also says that Evans is a disgusting, impotent man. Evans asks Carrel if he really wants to settle the debt outside of court. He admits that he did, but that he will decide after he sees Carrel. Evans then asks if he consulted his lawyers about the debt. He asks if they're going to settle it outside of the court, and Carrel says that they'll have to go see Carrel after they see him. They should go back to dinner, Evans says.
