In this chapter, the narrator tells his mom that he and Toji are in the same high school class and that they don't talk to each other. He's hoping that they'll get to separate classes so that they can have a fresh start, but he's not having any luck. So momo suggests that they go on a field trip to a nearby town to have lunch and then go out for a little walk together. The momo tells the narrator that she's jealous that Toji has gotten to know her better than she has. She also tells him that she still loves Toji, and that she and Kiley are a couple. The narrator says that he doesn't care if Kiley got to know momo first, because he still loves her. Momo tells him to get a room, because there's a lot of food left. She says that Kiley is taking care of his momo, so maybe they should just leave them alone and go for a walk together? The narrator thinks that the momo is being cruel to him, and he wonders how he got back. He tells her that his smile is more important than anyone else's, even if they're apart. He says that even though he'll never see Toji again, he still wants to be with him.
