This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the school year, when the students are learning how to make the sauce for the school's first-place trophy. The narrator tells the students that he has a secret plan to help his class win the trophy. He tells them that he's going to dress up as a boy and go to the cultural festival with him. He's also going to wear a pink outfit, which will make him popular with the students. This will make the other students jealous, so they're going to have to put on a good show. The next couple enters, and the narrator asks them what their favorite food is. The first couple says that it's the lion's food, but the narrator points out that the lion is an owl, and he apologizes for insulting him. The second couple asks the narrator if he enjoyed his time with the owl. He replies that he enjoyed it, too, and that the owl is worth 70 points.
