In this chapter, the young protagonist is introduced to his family. He tells them that his father was an Olympic hopeful, and that his mother is the sole breadwinner of their family. The protagonist also tells them about his engagement to his cousin, who lives two doors over, and about the results of the high school wrestling tournament, in which his opponent, Tetamada, lost to him in the first round.
