About This Chapter
On the anniversary of Mimori's death, Dr. Manette wonders what he did to her. He says that he was looking for Mimori when he was mistaken for someone trespassing on her property. He wonders what Mimori wrote about her family and how they would react if she read it. He tells Mimori that she should stop "screwing around" and make friends instead of living in dreamland. Mimori is dead, he says, because her mother left her to go "out with men" and her father and mother didn't show up. He goes on to say that Mimori has been dead for four years and that he wishes he could have stopped her from dying.
