About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that his mother was born from the depths of the abyss, and that she left her mother's favorite lipstick to him. She also left her husband a job as a cleaner. The narrator says that izana promised to lead him to the lights, but that she couldn't because her face looked too much like hers. He says that he doesn't want to look like izana, because she's so much like his mother. He also says that saki, the main character in the play, disappeared like a phantom. He adds that after that, her husband quit the theater business and took over as the family's business owner. He tells the narrator that seven years ago, a woman named izana came to the family and asked them to hide him from her. They didn't do it, but izana and her friend sukeyo were so close that they shared one life. They both worked as maids for a year, and izana was only with them for a little while, but they were very close to each other. They were like sisters, just like their mother and father. They have a request: izana has some of her things in her bag, including the lady of the wrist watch. She'd received a letter from a woman who said that she wanted to know if nagi san had feelings for her. The letter would never have been sent.
