About This Chapter
The narrator tells the audience that he has come to the theater company to ask them to put on a production of his own. He tells them that the shows are "stale and old fashioned," and that it would be "a waste" for them to end up "in obscurity no . . it among cant be them . allowed to happen" . He says that he will ask them again, but that he cannot accept their offer because he wants to see the real sukeyo on stage. The narrator says that the audience will want to see both of them on stage, and that they will be able to do so because they are both talented actors. He explains that he was secretly writing his own scripts under the direction of kaidou, who wanted to show the audience something he was fond of, but the audience enjoyed the dramatic aspect of the performance. He adds that sida's acting was not just for the dramatic effect, but also for the "body and soul" of the actress. He also says that she was "un touch able woman" because of her "happi ness" as a woman.
