About This Chapter
The scene opens with a flashback to a conversation between the two men at the beginning of the novel. The two men are discussing the fact that the other is away on business, and that they will not be able to stay for dinner. The conversation is interrupted by the arrival of the cakey, who asks the men why they are not at the meeting. The men reply that they are on business trips. The cakey asks if the men have ever had an affair, and the men respond that they have not. The cakesy then asks if there has ever been an improper sexual act, and they respond that chisa has had a "nice butt" before, and chisa's "brains are hope less." The men then discuss the letter that Chisa has sent to them, and how she has not been able to use the cell phone because she is "technological challenged" . They conclude that she is a third-year student in middle school and has not yet mastered the art of using a cell phone. They then discuss how the girls are always naked on land because they are always on the move, and there is no way they will show them how to use their cell phones if they ask them to do so. Finally, the men decide to go back to picking up the clothes they were wearing when they left the meeting, and when they return, they ask the cakesy what the meaning of the letter is.
